The last recital for a while

As a volunteer photographer for the City of Edina, I was asked to shoot a dance recital. It sounded fun and was to take place the night before stricter requirements were announced by our Governor. This was the “Big Night” of a joint partnership between Edina Parks & Rec and Platinum Dance Center that covered 3 age groups over several weeks of practice.

When I arrived at Edinborough Park, the youngest age group was already warming up. Dance director, Laurie Edin was working with the girls to learn the songs and hit their marks. The excitement of performing for the parents was already affecting their focus, but patiently, Laurie got them ready. I was there to shoot one group but ended up shooting all of them because they were so wonderful. And good thing too, it was going to be the last performance for quite some time.
