Old friend. New friend.
I got a call a bit ago asking if I was still shooting Sr. Photos. It was an old friend whom I worked with at a couple agencies and we kept in touch once in a while. Anyway, her niece Maze was in need of photos and yes, I am certainly shooting Sr. Photos. And this was a good chance to catch up and have some fun, so we booked it.
I had never met Maze and our text strings were minimal, so I was a little nervous. She did say that she wanted a nature-scape setting so we went to a favorite of mine and we’d play it by ear. I cut some wildflowers earlier for a bouquet for her to hold. It usually helps with nervous models and adds color to the foreground. When I finally met Maze, she had vibrant red hair and a beautiful smile to match. She was effortless in the way she lit up in front of my lens. We shot the hell out of the place and then headed to a small lake nearby for some other looks and to see if we could catch the sunset. (It had been overcast all shoot) Well, the sun came out and Maze instinctually waded into the water in her long dress. It amazed me the magic she posessed. I shot over 700 frames and it felt like I barely scratched the surface.
In the end, we had a great day, talked about old times and how the business has changed. And Maze is no longer nervous, because she has a friend shooting her portrait.
